Higher education’s model of campus-based, semester-timed, and credit-hour driven assessment and delivery is not well suited to support adult learners. In the face of heightened public scrutiny, colleges and universities need to identify innovative, flexible, and student responsive learning pathways. This study has been developed to explore the adult learner outcomes and satisfaction of an apprentice-based medical assisting pathway versus a traditional learning track. Assessing the efficacy and success of students enrolled in this apprentice track can support the deployment in other apprentice-based healthcare-related occupations.
