            Abstract

The study focuses on ants in Pune city, India, and their ecological distribution across various habitat types. The researchers identified 13 ant genera in the city, which is less than half of what was found in Bangalore. Tree plantations were the most diverse habitat, followed by other areas with varying degrees of human influence. Residential areas with tree plantations were particularly rich in ant fauna. Several genera were commonly found across all habitats, while others were more restricted to specific areas. Further studies on the ecology and behaviour of these ants are recommended.
