En ocasión de la conmemoración de V centenario de la escritura de El Príncipe, este ensayo acentúa las condiciones en que se gestó el pensamiento de su autor: el entorno humanista en el que se forma. En estas reflexiones sobre la formación de su pensamiento, destacamos un proceso que fue vital, no sólo para la formación de sus ideas, sino para su observación y práctica política: la experiencia republicana impulsada por el fraile Girolamo Savonarola en Florencia.

Due to the celebration of the V centenary of The Prince's appearance, this essay highlights the conditions under which the author's mind created it: the humanistic surroundings that gave life to it. With these considerations regarding his thinking, and how his ideas were elaborated, we can remark a vital process, not only for the formation of his ideas but regarding his political observation and practice: the republican experience motivated by the priest Girolamo Savonarola in Florence.
