          Abstract

          To determine the diagnostic accuracy of quantitative cultures obtained via nonbronchoscopic protected specimen brushing (PSB) and nonbronchoscopic bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) compared with quantitative cultures obtained by bronchoscopic PSB in surgical patients suspected of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
