          Abstract

A new monotypic subgenus, Tibetamara subgen. n., is established for Amara validula Tschitschrine, 1898, from Tibet. It shows some features unique among Amara: a very short right paramere with a simple tip and groups of long setae on the plantar surface of the tarsi. The position of the new subgenus within the genus Amara is discussed.
