Abstract

O presente estudo refere-se às representações sociais de mulheres com parceiro fixo sobre sexualidade e prevenção a AIDS. A incidência de AIDS tem aumentado entre indivíduos com relações heterossexuais estáveis em regime de conjugalidade, e, em se tratando de mulheres, a maioria tem se contaminado por intermédio do parceiro. O objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar como as mulheres com relacionamento fixo elaboram suas representações sociais sobre AIDS e se isso tem repercussão nas suas práticas de prevenção à doença. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, no qual foi empregada a técnica de observação indireta por meio de entrevistas “semidiretivas”. Foram entrevistadas 20 mulheres entre 30 e 40 anos que mantinham relações fixas em regime de conjugalidade no momento da entrevista. Para a análise do material coletado, foi utilizado um software de análise quantitativa de dados textuais (ALCESTE). Os resultados demonstraram que as mulheres mostramse conhecedoras da doença e informadas a respeito de práticas preventivas, não apresentando, porém, o uso de proteção no seu relacionamento conjugal em virtude de um sentimento de segurança no casamento e da confiança no parceiro. Verificou-se também uma divisão de duas instâncias: a da casa, onde elas se encontram mais seguras, e a da rua, que segundo elas é onde as pessoas que não têm um relacionamento fixo estariam mais expostas ao vírus do HIV.

The present study concerns the social representations of the women in stable relationships about sexuality and prevention of AIDS. Aids’s incidence has been increasing among heterosexuals in stable relationships, especially women, who have been infected mostly by their sexual partners. The research’s purpose was to identify how women in stable relationships elaborate social representations about AIDS and if it has an impact over their prevention practices concerning this disease. It was carried as a descriptive study in which were used indirect observations and non-directive interviews. Were interviewed 20 women between 30 and 40 years who were in close relationships at the time. In the data analysis, a software for quantitative analysis of textual data (ALCESTE) was used. The findings showed that this group of women knows about diseases and how to prevent themselves, but they don’t do that mostly because they feel safe and trustworthy towards their sexual partners. Furthermore, it was observed a division between two clusters: one regarding the house, where they are more secure and the other concerning the street where people who they don’t have a close relationship with would be more vulnerable to HIV.
