Abstract

El electrocardiograma es el procedimiento no invasivo más antiguo utilizado en cardiología. Se ha estado utilizando en su forma original por más de 100 años desde el primer registro realizado con un galvanómetro de cuerdas inventado por Einthoven en 1902. Sir Thomas Lewis, quien fuera su sucesor, probablemente hizo más que nadie en el establecimiento del valor clínico de la electrocardiografía desde 1908 hasta 1923. Se utilizó el método histórico lógico con el auxilio de técnicas particulares de las ciencias históricas. La información se ordenó cronológicamente y posteriormente se realizó un análisis deductivo inductivo.

Electrocardiogram is the oldest non-invasive method used in cardiology. It has been used in its original form for more than 100 years since the first recording with a string galvanometer created by Einthoven in 1902. Sir Thomas Lewis, who was his successor, contributed more than anybody else to the setting of the clinical value of electrocardiography from 1908 to 1923. The historical -logical method, assisted by particular techniques of historical sciences, were used. Data were chronologically arranged and then a deductive-inductive analysis was made.
